It was hot in Eindhoven. And it is the end of August. Despite this combination, a new daily record was not set on Tuesday.
In 1964, on 27 August, it was 35.5 degrees Centigrade in Volkel, 30km outside of Eindhoven. And the city did not achieve that this Tuesday, according to Jordi from Weer.nl.
“Eindhoven was the hottest place in the Netherlands on Tuesday, at 34.4°C. But that means we were still more than one degree too cool to set a new record,” says Jordi.
Heatwave
Earlier this week, the third heat wave of the year was to have been only at a regional level. But then, because it also rose above 30 degrees on Tuesday in De Bilt, in the province of Utrecht, it was declared a national heatwave.
