Visitors to the Catharina Hospital can try out the newest operating robot, the Da Vinci Xi robot.
The surgical robot has been used since March for various cancer operations. They are using the robot to remove kidney, bladder, and rectal tumours. The robot helps the surgeons to work more precisely.
According to one of the surgeons, Misha Luyer, many people have heard of the robot, but they have no idea what exactly it does. And so they wanted to change that perception at the hospital.
There was a lot of interest in the new robot. Yet, many visitors found the device quite difficult to operate. “It is just like Doctor Bibber,” said a visitor after she had steered the robot.
The surgical robot was on display in the hospital’s foyer from Monday, 14 April to Wednesday, 16 April.
