Philips halves radiation from X-rays

Philips has found a way to reduce exposure to X-rays during heart operations by half.

The results of clinical research have now been published. The image produced by the X-ray equipment is just as distinct as before. The X-rays are made using the AlluraClarity device. It is used during heart operations to enable the surgeon to conduct the operation with the help of X-ray images. Less radiation means more safety for the patient and medical staff. To test the new technique, research was carried out in Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre and in Main Taunus Cardiac Center in Germany. Philips has been working for some time on research into reducing radiation in medical care.
