EINDHOVEN – Cookbooks are no longer needed. A whole meal could be made with the 3D Food Printer in the future. This device converts raw materials into food. TNO has been experimenting with it for years, but in the catering sector the 3D printer is still considered science fiction. It does not have to be that way, as appeared during the Food Inspiration Days in Eindhoven Monday.
“Spending hours on a complicated dish or having a 3D printer print the same meal. Well, that’s an easy choice,” says TNO scientist Kjeld van Bommel. The food scientist is giving an on-stage presentation in the Evoluon in Eindhoven. Beside him stands the 3D Food Printer. It looks like a coffee maker, but this piece of technology is able to manufacture various foods.Of course, complex dishes are still a long way off, but if you want a perfect presentation of an ice cream pie you designed yourself, then it is a ‘piece of cake’ with this printer.”Source: Omroep Brabant
