EINDHOVEN – One out of four people from the Netherlands has got skin cancer. Because new tumors continue to develop skin cancer is considered a chronic disease.
This is the conclusion of Simone van der Geer-Rutten, she is a dermatologist in The Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven.This week she received her PhD from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.Now that skin cancer is considered a chronic disease, Van der Geer is pleading for another approach. For instance hospital departments where the diagnosis and treatment can take place in one day. The Catharina Hospital is the first in the world which utilizes such an approach.She is also pleading for more specialized nurses.Source: Omroep Brabant
