The Philips Museum has seen a huge increase in visitor numbers in the past year, more than 75,000 people visited the museum.
That is 45 percent more than a year earlier. In 2016, about 52,000 people came to the museum on the Nieuwe Emmasingel.
The Philips Museum thinks the big increase is due to the introduction of the museum card. Holders of that card can visit the museum free of charge since the beginning of this year. Events like the Dutch Design Week and the Dutch Technology Week generated a lot of visitors for the Philips Museum as well.
Such growth is unlikely to happen again next year. The museum hopes to hold this level in 2018.
