Well-known author A.F.Th. van der Heijden is to return to the years of his youth in Geldrop. Next month, the author will present his new book, which is about his young years in Geldrop. He will be taking a walk through the village, accompanied by other interested parties.
The title of the book is ‘Door de spiegel van Van der Heijden, (a literary walk through the imagination and reality of his youth in Geldrop). The work takes the reader to the author’s biographical locations, such as houses, schools, bars, streets and squares.
Van der Heijden will also go walking with readers and other interested parties. The walk starts at Kasteel Geldrop, and the route will be officially opened by Alderman Verdouw.
Van der Heijden lived in Geldrop until he was twenty, after which he left for the big city. His books have won a number of literary prizes and recently, his books De Helleveeg and Tonio were made into films.
The book presentation is on 7 April in Café De Kuster, the walk is the day after.
