The Eindhoven City Council has determined the number of charging stations for electric cars must increase in the years to come.
The Municipal Board wants to promote the driving of electric cars. The objective is to decrease CO2 emissions. Considering the rise in electric cars in the city, the Council proposed this plan of action. The cost of this initiative is estimated at €150 000.
The plan entails creating opportunities for suitable placement of charging stations in public spaces. Acquiring permission to place the charging station should be easy. The process must also be accelerated for faster approval. Suitable areas of construction within the city are currently being investigated. This would include the area north of Eindhoven Central Station. Here, an addition of parks, offices, shops, and homes is to be seen within the next 20 years.
At present, Eindhoven has more than 350 charging stations. This number includes dedicated home charging points or (partially) public charging facilities. However, each month, the number increases more than tenfold.
