Five years after an armed robbery, a remorseful Eindhoven resident handed himself in to the police.
The 21-year-old man walked into the police station this week. He said that he was involved in a robbery at a cafeteria in Helmond at the end of 2014.
Two men with balaclavas attacked the friettent (fries tent) in Cederhoutstraat. They threatened three staff members with a knife and got away with cash. The criminal investigation department investigated the case for a long time, but they made no arrests. That is, until this week, as the police reported on Thursday.
The man from Eindhoven said that after five years he regretted his deed. The police are holding him in custody and interrogating him. The criminal investigation department is still investigating a second suspect.
