A war has been raging in Syria for more than seven years now. Peace in the Middle East is still far away, but there is a part of Syria is relatively safe.
In Kobanê, Northern Syria, people are trying to put their lives back together, despite the threat of war. Here is your chance to help. On Tuesday, 26 March, a charity meal will be held at the Cruydenhuisch, 73 Kalmoesplein in Eindhoven. This event, which runs from 18:00 to 22:00, is for the benefit of the Hîvî School in Kobanê.
Hîvî means Hope. This school was established by women in the area to cater for about 25 disabled children. Last year, people in Eindhoven raised €10,000 for this school. This money was used to refurbished and furnish one of the school’s buildings. Now, there is room for 50 pupils.
In Kobanê, people are working hard on reconstruction. But many parents still have no means of income. Their children often have to go to school hungry, with no lunch. Hence, this charity meal event.
The meal in the Cruydenhuisch costs € 12,50 per person, excluding drinks. Registration is required via 040 202 45 83 (between 10:00 and 22:00, except on Monday) or reservations@hetcruydenhuisch.
The evening is organised by the COS31 Social Integration and EINDHOVEN~KOBANÊ, a working group of the Vredesburo.
