Rough night in the region

It was quite a rough night in the Eindhoven region recently. Not only were three shops robbed in and around the city. There was also an explosion under a vehicle in Eindhoven, itself.

Late on Thursday afternoon, a 14-year-old boy robbed the Primera shop in the Woensel Shopping Centre. Plain-clothed police officers saw the boy running away from the shop and arrested him. They are still searching for the weapon he used in the robbery. He apparently threw it into the bushes. It is not known if anyone was injured in this robbery.

Then at about 20:00, an armed robbery took place at the Aldi on Sint Jozef plain in Geldrop. Two suspects, one from Geldrop, the other from Eindhoven, were arrested later that night. No-one was injured in this incident.

Another armed robbery

Just half an hour later, at around 20:30, another armed robbery was committed. This time by a hooded man at the flower shop in the Albert Heijn XL in, again, the Woensel Shopping Centre. He threatened the member of staff and told her to place the entire contents of the till in a bag. He then told her to lie on the floor and fled. This suspect is still at large.

Then, in the early hours of Friday morning, an explosion occurred under a car in Tongelre. Residents of Johannesburg Street in the suburb of Doornakkers woke up to a loud bang in the street. Two vehicles were damaged in the explosion. Another’s windows were blown out.

The fire brigade was called, since the car that the explosion took place under, caught alight. They managed to put out the fire. The police cordoned the street off. They are investigating the incident with the help of the forensics team.

The two damaged vehicles were towed away.
