The Muziekgebouw can plan ahead for another year – a lender has been found who can fill the hole in the budget.

This is according to a report in the local newspaper, the Eindhovens Dagblad. Who the lender is and what exactly the arrangement with the Muziekgebouw is, is not known.

Time was running out for the Muziekgebouw – the institution has been struggling for years with a budget deficit of EUR500 000 per year. Also, a structural deficit had arisen. The City Executive Board wanted the Muziekgebouw to be able to present a balanced budget for 2019. They must also show that there is a structural solution from 2020 onwards.

That first assignment is now fulfilled. A year has been ‘bought’ to deal with the financial problems. Whether there is a structural solution for next year is still unknown.
