Van Abbe masterpieces go on special tour

Fourteen replicas of masterpieces from the Van Abbe museum’s collection will start a special tour. This special tour takes the works to various Vitalis care centres.

The works will be exhibited during a special travelling exhibition. This exhibition will be shown at seven different locations. At each location, the works are exhibited for just two weeks.

Residents, employees and volunteers will be offered all kinds of activities linked to the special exhibition, at each location. Employees will also receive a crash course in “how to look at art”. This ensures, they will be able to easily communicate and interact with residents about the art on display.

Works to be displayed are high-quality replicas of real art. The replicas include works by Picasso, Mondriaan, Warhol and Lissitzky. The aim of this special exhibition-tour is to reach over 3,000 elderly people and employees.

The first exhibition-on-location will open at Vitalis Wilgenhof, Sunday fourth of November.

Nationally and internationally, museums offer more and more activities to engage the elderly. Art as well as creative activities are known to help and be beneficial for young and old, including traumatized people and people suffering from Alzheimer and Dementia.
