TU/e is growing and opens wallet for renewal campus

Eindhoven University of Technology will be devoting more than € 350 million over 10 years to improve the university campus. That confirms a spokesperson.

At least ten buildings are on the list for renovation, according to real estate plans for the long term. This involves better education and research areas, but also new study spaces and spaces where groups of students can work together.

Big jobs
The refurbishment of the Atlas building is almost finished. The opening is the beginning of next year. Furthermore, there are big jobs for Gemini and Laplace. Laplace is being refurbished into a general education building and Gemini will be used as a research building for the faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering.

Renovations

Furthermore, renovations are planned for, among others, the Student Sports Center, Auditiorium, Helix (Biomedical Technology and Chemical Engineering) and Impuls, which will soon be used by the High Tech Systems Center and the TNO research institute. The university may want to transfer the Student Sports Center renewal and the provision of extra parking space to the open market.

Growth university
The university believes that innovation is necessary. After all, the educational needs are changing and the TU / e is growing. In the near future, more student rooms will be needed, and fewer offices for employees will be needed.

The TU / e now has more than 11,000 students and 3,800 employees. The counter is expected to reach 14,500 students and 4,000 employees by 2030. Together, these two groups will be good for 80 nationalities.
