New TU/e complex planned with homes, shops, and office space

A new building set to replace the TU/e sport fields will accommodate homes, shops, and research spaces, a spokesman for construction company Hurks confirmed.

Plans are being drawn up in consultation with the university, and will then be submitted to municipal authorities for approval.

The building will feature 250 homes for students and expats, with 5000m2 reserved for offices. Shops, a restaurant, and a supermarket will all be located on the ground floor. A terrace and a garden are also included in the plans.

Office space in the complex will house research labs and classrooms, allowing local companies to work closely with students.

The plan comes with an investment of €100m, raised by several financiers. Hurks plans to begin construction at the end of 2019.
