23 500 runners expected on Sunday

The Eindhoven Marathon is expecting some 23 500 runners to run in the event on Sunday. This is about the same number as last year.

Most of the participants will be running in the 21km half marathon. There will be 8 600 participants running this distance on Sunday. With 5 000 runners, the 5km City Run is also popular. On Sunday, the other runners will participate in the relay race, the mini-marathon, and the full marathon of just over 42 kilometers.

On Saturday, there will also be a walking event. This event includes the 5KM4All, which also allows people with disabilities to participate. On Saturday night 3 000 runners will run 10km by night.

On Sunday, the Kenyan Kirwa and Ethiopians Assefa and Robi are considered favourites.

The marathon will cause a hindrance because of the many roadblocks. Here, drivers can see what to expect. Many buses will not be riding either. Until 13:00 the buses n the lines 8, 11, 14, 18, 19, 317, 318, 319, 402 and 403 will not ride on the motorways. They will only stop at stops within the ring. After 13:00 everything would run normally as per schedule.
