Parktheater Eindhoven has again been nominated for the Theatre of the Year Award.
This is the seventh time this local theatre has been nominated for this award by the VVPT or Vrije Theater Producenten (Free Theatre Producers Association). In 2014, Parktheater was awarded the prize and was known as the Theatre of the Year for a year.
The members of the VVTP cast their votes on Dutch theatres on Monday. In the category for large theatres, in addition to the Park Theatre, there are six other nominees. Two – the DeLaMar Theater and the Theatre De Meervaart are in Amsterdam. Then there is the Amphion (Doetinchem), Theatre aan het Vrijthof (Maastricht), Nieuwe Luxor (Rotterdam), and Theatre De Stoep (Spijkenisse).
The VVTP has been awarding the prize since 2010. The members assess all theatres in the Netherlands using various criteria in areas such as communication, technology, appearance, and hospitality.
The VVTP consists of 18 theatre and music producers. Together, they make up about 60% of the professional stage productions on offer in the Netherlands. The association strives for a fruitful cooperation between non-subsidized producers in the fields of theater, music, cabaret, musical, opera, and other performing arts.
