Computer chip manufacturer, ASML, has broken a new record: 341 new employees were recruited in just one month.
That is a record, even for ASML, the company reports on Twitter. The new people come from all over the world. Before the summer, the counter was on 11,350 Full-Time Employees (FTE) in Veldhoven and 21,400 FTE worldwide. At the end of this month, a figure of 12,000 employees is expected to be reached.
ASML’s explosive growth in recent years is mainly due to the development of the EUV machines. With these computer chip machines, it is possible to produce even faster chips.
ASML now employs people of 102 different nationalities. Half the staff that is recruited as new staff has a nationality other than Dutch. Monique Mols stresses once again that the Dutch labour market cannot keep up with the chip manufacturer’s growth. Therefore, ASML employs many technically skilled personnel from abroad, especially engineers.
