A small seal was born in Dierenrijk, in Nuenen.
Mother Doka has given birth to a young. It is not yet clear whether it is a boy or a girl.
Mother and child are doing well. The seal pup is in the seal shelter. The public can already admire it there between the other seals.
Seals are born after a gestation period of about nine months. They are able to swim directly. It is important that the young will be nursed by the mother for several weeks. After about four weeks the seal is already twice as heavy as when it was born.
