The countdown to the King’s Day party in Eindhoven started Thursday afternoon as finishing touches were put to preparations in the city centre.
Parties will be held in 15 locations this year, including Strijp-S, Stadhuisplein, Wilhelminaplein, and de Markt. Stricter security checks are also in place, with cans, glass, and bicycles banned from the city centre. Extra facilities for bicycle paraking have been installed.
Last year’s King’s Day festivities attracted about 65,000 visitors, a decrease from previous years when up to 200,000 revellers attended.
