One of Eindhoven’s best-known events, Dutch Design Week (DDW), will take place from 20 – 28 October. Part of the uniqueness of this week is the Design Rides.
It has just been announced that this year, Renault has joined forces with the DDW. They will provide 45 new, entirely electric Design Rides for the 17th edition of DDW. These Design cars have been a regular part of the DDW programmes for many years now. This year visitors, who number more than 335 000, can catch a ride in ZOE, Renault’s electric car.
The DDW Design cars are one of the most photographed projects during the design festival. Using ZOE is perfectly aligned with the DDW and Renault’s shared vision of sustainability. Edwin Schenk works on the development of Design Cars concepts at the Dutch Design Foundation. He says it was a logical step to switch to 100% electric Rides. “Through the new cooperation with Renault this long-hoped-for wish has come true”, says Edwin.
Janet Richter from Renault Nederland has this to say: “We are very honoured that we are able to connect with Dutch Design Week for the first time this year. The event is an excellent stage for Renault to present itself as a brand that stands for design and innovation. We are delighted with the 45 electric Renault ZOEs as Design Rides. These will allow DDW visitors to be transported 100% electrically and emission-free for the first time”.
DDW is the biggest design even in Northern Europe. It presents works and concepts of more than 2 600 designers. There are various events that take place in about 110 locations throughout the city. These include exhibitions, lectures, network meetings, debates, and DDW Music, a music festival.
