The Eindhoven chip maker NXP develops very smart software for electric, autonomous cars. This makes the production process cheaper and faster.
The idea of NXP is to develop software for both advanced and simple cars. “We found out that if we wanted to make tomorrow’s software, we had to reinvent the hardware,” says Matt Johnson, senior vice president and general director.
Hardware is the electronic and mechanical components of a computer system. Software is the control of that system.
The software can be recycled, which will save development costs. In this way, manufacturers will be able to bring new cars to the market faster.
