The new Ecocar of students of Summa Automotive has been tested yesterday at the Automotive Campus.
It concerns the Ecocar IVY 1. Students will participate with it next week at the Shell Eco Marathon, a race where a car should drive as far as possible on one Kilowatt hour or one liter of fuel.
New this year, Shell does not split the various fuel categories, but adds them together. Ultimately, all teams must meet the requirements of a car where innovation, technology and sustainability are important.
Last year, the Summa Automative team participated in the marathon as well. They placed third in the category of ethanol. They managed to reach a distance of 185 kilometers. This year the goal with the IVY 1 is far more ambitious: drive 400 kilometers on 1 liter of fuel.
The team behind the IVY 1 is not the only Eindhoven team. TU Delft also participates in TU/ecomotive with the flax car, a car made entirely of biocomposite.
