Snapfood is a recent start-up initiated in Eindhoven. The main ideas around the “eat, meet and share” concept is that people get acqainted through a dinner offered by a host. People use the app on their smartphone to create or join a dinner, pay for it and finally review it.
According to a recent interview of the team who developed the app, published in a local magazine, frits, the idea came from their student years. “The most beautiful evening arose around dinner tables. In the daily life, those circumstances rarely occur, due to lack of time and effort”. This is a gap snapfood attempts to fill.
Snapfood is not the only food platform – restaurants try to get more patronage with delivery services, while AirDnD is another, similar food sharing platform. However, according to snapfood team, the latter places its emphasis to the culinary experience, while the snapfood platform emphasises the social experience.
The platform is still in its initial phase, with the short-term goal to roll out in one city by the end of this summer. A further capital investment is required in order for the development process to continue and to roll out further in the market, starting in the Netherlands. More information can be found on the website. The facebook page of the concept can be found here.
