The Schrijversbuurt in Gestel is celebrating the start of spring with neighborhood festival ‘Gestels Hoogtij’.
On Sunday, March 26, there are plenty of cultural activities for young and old. The shops are open, restaurants give a peek into their kitchen, workshops and artists present their work and musicians make themselves seen and heard.
Besides the cultural activities there is also a flea market and for the first time an art promenade. Initiator Peter Alewijns organized earlier art markets. “The word art is reminiscent of some kind of fair. The word “boulevard” sounds more chic, people get a different idea, ” he says.
“We also ask residents with large windows on the Gestelsestraat from Café ‘t Rozenknopje to the Rivierstraat, if we can place works of art on their windows. So you get a kind of open-air museum street. ”
Gestels Hoogtij lasts from 13:00 to 17:00.
