40 balconies of two flats on the Karel de Grotelaan and the Aartshertog Albertlaan should be replaced because of their poor condition.
According to the new stricter standards they would be considered unsafe.
The balconies are condemned because the iron wire mesh would be laying too low in the concrete. As a result, the risk of breaking down is larger.
Other flats in the region are or will be examined for problems with the balconies as well. How big the risks are that the balconies would break down is unknown to the residents, but they don’t want to take any risks. And so they will be replaced.
The municipality of Eindhoven has highlighted other housing estates the need for examination.
