Almost 370 signatures have been collected in a petition to the city council to address traffic problems on the Hastelweg.
Neighbourhood association “Strijp Within the Ring” have called for the Karel Martelweg to be reopened. The road is currently closed for works to expand the Genderpark.
The closure has redirected traffic in and out of the city centre to the Hastelweg, a narrow road with two bus stops. Residents complaining of an unsafe road say it is “only a matter of time” before an accident occurs.
