GGzE receives award for innovative treatment of dementia sufferers

The Department of Mental Health in Eindhoven (GGZ) has been awarded a national prize for an innovative project for the treatment of dementia.

Innovate Dementia is the name of the project for which the organisation was awarded the CZ Zorgprijs (Care Prize). It helps prevent the need for obligatory care of dementia patients, for example in the case of patients who wish to maintain control of their situation, even though this is obviously not good for them, and might even lead to dangerous situations.

This problem challenges care institutions to find innovative solutions. The Innovate Dementia project tests innovations in the home environment of dementia sufferers. This allows the care, and all sorts of aids, to be improved, thereby easing the pressure on informal carers.

The Innovate Dementia project involves care professionals, informal carers and researchers. The CZ Zorgprijs consists of 25,000 Euros.
