On 12 June 2016, the “i am not a tourist” Expat Fair for Internationals will be hosted in Eindhoven for the first time. The event is an opportunity for the international community in the South of the Netherlands to learn more about life in the ‘low lands’.
The historical VDMA area in the city centre of Eindhoven will bring together 50 exhibitors and an estimated 1,500 internationals to gather information, orientation of local services and business networking.
You can get free entry tickets here.
The fair features a range of presentations by a diverse group of speakers. At 10:45 on the Main Stage, Expat Spouses Initiative and Ernst & Young will launch the ESI Social Enterprise. This is a social enterprise built by Expat Spouses Initiative with a vision to enable a sustainable global ecosystem in which both partners can fulfil their career ambitions and are integrated professionally in the local environment.
At 11:00, the Expat Top-10 will be announced, an initiative from e52 together with High Tech Campus, Brainport Development, ASML, TU/e, Eindhoven365 and the Holland Expat Center South. The aim is to set up at a list of ten people who did their share in the Eindhoven community. This can be through an invention, an individual performance, a critical role in a company, the impact of a startup, or simply because they are socially significant.
In the workshop "Translate your expat experience into skills for your career" by Xpat Media’s Diane Lemieux, she will uncover the skills to develop when moving and living abroad and how to highlight your added value to potential employers.
In her presentation powered by Rotterdam School of Management, Dorothy Grandia will explain ‘How to use LinkedIn to get a job in the Netherlands’.
ASML’s Sulabh Sharma’s presentation is about ‘Expanding your horizon: being an international/engineer in the Netherlands’.
If you would like to ‘Get to know the Expat Center and the International Community’, you can attend the presentation by Kris de Prins of the Holland Expat Center South. For this workshop you need to bring your mobile device.
You can find pure entertainment as well at the ‘i am not a tourist’. Are you in for some laughter? Then join the ‘How to Be Dutch: The Quiz’ by Comedian Greg Shapiro.
