On Sunday, June 12, from 10:00 – 17:00 as part of the “Opening International Boulevard” the Expat Spouses Career Event will take place. This event is organized by Expat Spouses Initiative
Expats are not tourists. They shouldn’t think of themselves as tourists, and locals shouldn’t regard them as tourists, either. But often, expats tend to gravitate towards other expats, creating an international subculture. By doing this, they confine themselves to their own bubble.
After stepping outside your bubble and joining the Expat Spouses Career Event, you’ll learn how to overcome your integration obstacles, and take part in workshops and discussions that inspire real integration. You’ll be inspired by guest speakers and successful international experts, and you’ll have the opportunity to network. By networking, you can make meaningful connections with companies and peers that will create opportunities and open doors for you. Whether you’re an ambitious job-seeker or an innovative entrepreneur, you’ll leave the event feeling empowered and encouraged, wanting to integrate and make a difference in your city.
Expats face three types of obstacles that challenge their integration: Cultural, practical, and professional. Cultural obstacles might include differences in social or working culture, language, cuisine, or etiquette. Practical obstacles include housing, education, childcare, taxation, and cross-cultural job qualifications. The third type of obstacles internationals face is perhaps the most important, yet often the most overlooked, especially for the spouses of expats and internationals: Professional obstacles. These professional obstacles include building a professional network, continuing education opportunities, job applications, and succeeding as an entrepreneur. At the career event those issues are tackled.
Here you can get your free ticket. A ticket at the door is EUR 5.
Note that the same ticket for Expat Spouses Career Event is valid for the "i am not a tourist" – Expat Fair for Internationals on the same day. Ticket at the door is EUR 5.
