Eindhoven Company VDL will help construct a 190 meter high Ferris wheel in New York. The 36 capsules of the giant Ferris wheel will be made in Breda with assistance of the welding factory in Eindhoven.
A total of 20 million euro is tied up in the venture. The capsules in the New York Wheel can seat 40 persons a time. Each capsule weighs 26 ton, of which 16 ton is contributed to its steel construction. In each capsule there will be the possibility to dine, plus there will be a bar. Each capsule is ten meters long and 5 meters wide.
The giant Ferris wheel will be constructed on Staten Island in New York. As the Ferris wheel will be situated at the waterfront, there is also the view of the buildings in Manhattan. The capsules should be completed in 2017.
