Downtown Eindhoven will be the stage of the first Kirtan Connection, a traditional Indian procession.
The first Indian procession of the Kirtan Connection will take place tomorrow, Saturday 13 February, in the centre of Eindhoven. From 13:00 a large colourful procession of musicians and religious persons in traditional clothing will walk from the station in the direction of the town centre.
Kirtan is a spiritual gathering from the Indian/Hindu tradition. It means the singing of ‘The Name’. Believers come together to sing the names of the various Indian Gods and Goddesses, singing the names in repetition.
After the procession the gathering will relocate to the neighbour community centre Meerpaal in the Schoenerstraat. Participants and visitors will get a free vegetarian Indian meal. No entrance fee is charged to participate in the Kirtan.
Eindhoven is the first Dutch city to have this event. Afterwards the festivities will take place in another city in the Netherlands every month.
