The economy is improving and the tough years are over, which is noticeable in Eindhoven as well. For the first time in years, the municipality will not have to take austere measures. This is evident from the city budget for 2016.
In recent years an amount of 76 million euros had to be cut back, but a turning point has been reached.
Now that things are looking up, additional multi-million investments may be possible. Investments, for example, in better roads, attracting new, innovative companies (such as a Taiwanese e-bike business) to the region or renovating neighbourhoods like Woensel West or the Philips village.
Nevertheless, there are still some concerns for the city administration, such as the maintenance of sport facilities in the city and the care for the elderly and disabled.
The Eindhoven municipality has a budget of 880 million euros.
