The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) campus will have its own small Spar supermarket from April 2015. The ‘Spar University’, with a formula aimed specially at students will be on the ground floor of the new FLUX building.
Spar will also offer healthy products like fresh juices, bake-off bread and coffee for 1 euro (€1) at lunchtime and coffee breaks. Payment will be at a self-service check-out, replacing the traditional store check-outs. Shoppers can pay using their PIN cards or a cash machine.
The new Spar store will mean more choice for people who want to buy food on the campus. Up to until now students and staff were limited to the campus caterer in the canteens.
DIFFER research institutes, which will move to the campus in the near future, people working in the industry buildings including Catalyst and the Twinning Centre Life and the fact that 600 apartments are to be built on campus will mean more users and residents who will benefit from easy access to the Spar supermarket.
