Year in psychiatric hospital for biting off phalanx

Resident of Eindhoven arrested for threatening with a knife

The court in Den Bosch has ruled that a man from Eindhoven will have to be treated in a psychiatric hospital for a year, because he bit off a policeman’s phalanx. The man also has to pay a fine of 11,000 euros.

Last year the man bit off an officer’s phalanx in Helmond. The victim has had to miss the tip of his finger ever since. Another agent was also attacked and bitten in his arm by the suspect.

During the assault the perpetrator was suffering from a psychotic disorder and, therefore, he was not accountable for his actions.
