The Eindhoven meat-processing company VION Food is to close its abattoir in Helmond. The group announced the news on its website.
The activities in Helmond will be moved to Boxtel. According to the company, the closure is necessary to save money and avoid lagging behind its competitors in other meat-processing plants.The closure means 130 jobs are at risk. The group will try to reassign these employees as far as possible. VION Food employs a total of some 21,000 people.
