Philips started a trial with led lighting in a football stadium.
The first was for the new stadium of the Belgian Premier League club AA Gent. It was taken into service for the first time last Wednesday.
The whole complex is now illuminated by around five hundred thousand led bulbs. Through this the annual energy costs of the outdoor lighting are dropping considerably. Before the cost was two to three hundred thousand, now it is 15,000 euros.
AA Gent consecrated the new stadium properly on Wednesday evening. In the very first game in the Ghelamco Arena the Belgians defeated Stuttgart with 2-0.
