Youth unemployment is rising in the Eindhoven region, and is with nearly eight percent higher than the average in the Netherlands. There are now about 4000 young people jobless in the area.
This is a reason for the new Ambassador Youth Unemployment Mirjam Sterk, to visit Eindhoven.
She visited the company ‘DeltaZuid’. Here young people can get started immediately after school. The Eindhoven Alderman List was there too. According to her municipalities and companies are trying their very best to combat the high youth unemployment, by additional internships, work checks and more student support. The Dutch Cabinet is investing 50 million euros to tackle youth unemployment. Part of it is intended for the Eindhoven region.
