Two former directors of Philips Polska admitted they were involved in fraud and corruption in Poland, as the NOS (Netherlands Broadcasting Foundation) reported Tuesday evening.
Former Director Henryk N., responsible for medical equipment sales in Southern Poland, is suspected of having created false invoices. Tuesday, his colleague Marian R. admitted having taken bribes, according to a statement made available to the NOS.Twenty-three suspects stand trial in the fraud case. According to the Polish police, Philips employees bribed hospital managers on a large scale in order to increase sales between 2000 and 2007. Five of those suspects plead guilty now. They will be tried in a separate proceeding that started at the Katowice Court on Tuesday.Two hospital managers admitted having bought Philips medical equipment in exchange for bribes. One of the managers allegedly received 170,000 German Marks. According to the two people concerned that money was collected at a Philips site in Prague.Source: Omroep Brabant
