EINDHOVEN – Attending a Dutch school but following lessons in English. This combination is possible at the ‘Stedelijk College’ Eindhoven.
Vwo, Havo (higher secondary education) and Vmbo (intermediate secondary education) students receive lessons in history and maths, not ‘geschiedenis’ or ‘wiskunde’. The bilingual education department celebrates its 20th anniversary this month. Approximately half of the 1600 students at the ‘Stedelijk College’ are following bilingual education courses. This means that around half of their lessons are given in English. The bilingual courses are only taught to the juniors at the college, the seniors are taught exclusively in Dutch in order to prepare them best for the final examination which is in Dutch.
