EINDHOVEN – Philips introduces a porno-app for the Philips Smart TV. In the application are films from the channels Hustler and Private available for viewing, according to the website Emerce.
The introduction of the erotic application, containing films to rent on an average for € 6,95, is remarkable. The Eindhoven manufacturer missed the boat several years ago with the Video 2000.
Philips at that time did not want to have porno recorded on the video cassettes (Video 2000), because the company was afraid of receiving a bad reputation. VHS didn’t have a problem with it and eventually became the standard. That the image quality was significantly less of the Video 2000 system didn’t seem to bother the viewer.
Currently viewers can watch on so-called “smart televisions” using complete programs. By being the first to offer a sex-app, the company appears to have conquered a place in the living or bedroom. If this will be successful, only time will tell.
