Summa College eliminates about 80,000 square meters. The Eindhoven MBO-institution (secondary vocational education) is thus anticipating on the expected decline in young people in the region over the coming years, confirmed a spokesman.
Surveys by the Central Bureau of Statistics show that the number of young people is decreasing. That general trend in society translates to fewer students in the future for Summa College.
This means that the secondary vocational school will cut considerably in the number of square meters. Some schools will be shut down. Which schools is not clear.
At the same time, three new buildings are being built, accounting for 20,000 square meters. That includes a building on the university campus and a new building for the current building at the Sterrenlaan 6. Which courses will be housed there, is not known. Summa opts for small buildings, where atmosphere and decor reflect the professional practice as much as possible.
Summa College is investing a total of tens of millions of euros in the new building. The institution has a total of 22 schools.
