Coming week, in Portugal, the soccer robots of the TU/e students from Eindhoven will be preparing for the World Championships in July.
From 8 to 12 April the robot football team will be participating in the RoboCup Portugal Open. They are going for the third title.
The Eindhoven students improved, among other things, the ‘passing on’ of the ball. The new Fair-play tournament policies ensure that referees will be handing out cards sooner. And that is for the benefit of the Eindhoven team because they play less aggressively than other teams. But no one is saying the match will be easy now. "Our competitors have not been inactive. They also made improvements. So it remains exciting," says the new team coach Lotte de Koning.
The team from Eindhoven won the World Cup twice already. In 2012 in Mexico and last year in Brazil. This year’s RoboCup will be in China. From 17 to 23 July.
