The thirteenth Dutch Design Week (DDW) at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) has a different look from past editions. TU/e is presenting the ‘Mind the Step’ exhibition with two other universities of technology Delft and Twente.
The exhibition entitled Design United is open from 18 to 26 October in the Klokgebouw building, located right at the heart of the DDW.
70 projects divided into six themes – Make, Care, Sense, Learn, Live and Move – ‘Mind the Step’ shows the effects of research and technology on design in everyday life. "Visitors are sure to find something of interest among the topics on show at ‘Mind the Step’," says Lucas Asselbergs, project leader of the exhibition from TU/e.
"The subjects clearly show that design also needs research and technology. The kind of multidisciplinary design found at the universities of technology adds new functionalities to our everyday lives. And that’s something that involves all of us."
Young TU/e designers have come up with solutions for existing and future problems in the fields of energy, mobility and health.
Exhibits include: 3D-printed food (Edible Growth), Stella the Solar-powered family car from Solar Team Eindhoven, Care robot AMIGO and children can visit the Ontdeklab (Discovery Lab).
