Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) new academic year officially begins on 1 September for staff and students. Rector Magnificus Hans van Duijn will open the programme in the hall of the TU/e Auditorium at 16.00.
The theme of the opening this year is ‘Your expedition X our excellence’. Guest speakers are Karl Dittrich, Chairman of the VSNU (Association of universities in the Netherlands) and Lieven Scheire, comedian and maker of science-related TV programmes.
Subjects to be covered during the opening of the academic year will include new developments within the Bachelor College, such as the growth in the numbers of first-year students. The ceremony will conclude with a presentation of prizes for the best lecturers at TU/e. The robot soccer world champions TechUnited, and care robot Amigo from RoboCup2014 will also be honoured.
