The UWV (Dutch social security organization) has reported that the unemployment rate in the Eindhoven region is still declining.
Since January, this rate has decreased by more than 3.5 percent, to 12,500 unemployed now. In the province of Noord-Brabant the decline is even as much as five percent, but the over 50s unemployment rate is not falling yet.
According to the UWV, the decline is a clear sign that the economy is growing again and the organization considers this to be a turnaround in the labour market.
In addition to the decreasing number of unemployed people, the number of vacancies is increasing. In the Eindhoven region especially employees in the high tech industry, in construction and transport have more job opportunities.
The UWV did indicate, however, that one will have to wait and see what the developments in the regional labour market will be like for the rest of the year. The social security organization assumes that 2014 will be a transitional year and that the economy will not actually recover or grow before 2015.
