Last night a small fire raged at the community centre Toeloop in Tongelre. A stack of paper caught fire at around 19:30hrs.
The community centre includes a sports hall, a primary school and day care centre from Korein. Everyone who was in the building last night was already standing outside when the fire department arrived. No one was injured.
The fire department had heavy equipment that quickly brought the fire under control. Afterwards, they placed large fans to drive out the rest of the smoke from the property.
It is unclear whether the children from the day care centre and primary school could attend today, the school and day care were open today, but some parents were notified by telephone that their children had to stay home today. Thus, it is a quiet day in the classrooms.
