The noise barriers around the railway track in Tongelre are finally ready. For years local residents had complained about the noise from the trains and this will probably come to an end now.
Today the last noise barriers were symbolically placed by Alderman Joost Helms and Ines Plasmans-Levert, the Regional Director of ProRail.
After at least twenty years of negotiations both parties came to an agreement in 2012. Last year they started the construction of the noise barriers and this eventually lasted nine months.
A total of three and a half kilometers of noise barriers have been placed. This project cost just over two million euros. The city of Eindhoven and the government are sharing the costs.
