The ‘Eindhovens Dagblad’ (ED) will have to dismiss people in the near future. Part of it is forced, says editor-in-chief John van den Oetelaar.
How many people will be laid off is not clear yet. Both flexible and permanent employees will lose their jobs. These are mainly editors and designers.
Because of the reorganization, certain roles and functions will disappear. Online ED will mainly focus on news, so some columns will disappear.
For permanent workers a redundancy plan will be ready. They get a redundancy because of their contracts. There are ongoing discussions between the newspaper and journalists’ union NVJ on the redundancy plan.
Other newspapers and print publications from Wegener will also be cut.
