Finishing the diamond-shaped ring road around Eindhoven would be bad for the cultural heritage and nature north of the city, says the Henri van Abbe Stichting (Foundation).
If the currently preferred route for the ‘North-East Corridor’ is going to be built, the highway will go across the old hamlets of Esp and Bokt. The monumental scouting farm on the Eindhovenseweg might need to make way for the new interchange. An old ‘long façade farm’ from the 1930s will disappear as well, but a third historical building in Esp will be spared by the current plans. The advantages of a new highway still do not outweigh the destruction of cultural heritage and natural beauty, according to the foundation.
